One of the most commonly asked questions by people who do not understand domestic violence is, “Why does she stay?” There are many reasons why a woman stays in an abusive relationship.

In nearly every abusive relationship the abuser uses many tools to gain power and control over his partner. Many times the abuser isolates the victim from friends, family and co-workers. Slowly over time, they lose the life they used to know. Another tool is shame and guilt; at breaking up the family and of not being good enough. Fear is another tool used by abusers—fear of how others will look at them, fear of losing their children and their home.

The jewelry in this catalog has been designed specifically for AAFV in honor of the survivors of domestic violence and in appreciation of all those who are there to provide support. Purple is the color used to represent domestic violence.

The survivor ring is a 10x8mm Purple Charoite with a 8x6mm Blue Lapis Lazuli on both sides in a sterling silver setting. This Survivor Ring represents a survivor of abuse standing with supporters or advocates right beside her providing strength.
