Advocates Against Family Violence, Inc. programs in the Treasure Valley.

Hope’s Door Shelter: A beautiful 17,450 sq. ft. facility located on three acres. The shelter has 25 individually decorated rooms and offers a safe place to live free of abuse.

PAT (Parents as Teachers): This program is a parent education and family support program serving families from pregnancy until a child enters kindergarten. It is designed to enhance child development and school readiness through parent education.

PIRC (Parent Information Resource Center) Sites: These sites offer a range of resources for parents including: books, puzzles, games for children, and general resource guides for parents.

SART (Sexual Assault Response Team): This coalition of Sexual Assault nurse examiners, advocates, Law Enforcement officers, Emergency room staff, and Prosecuting Attorney’s was developed to coordinate the community’s response to sexual assault. This team provides support to survivors as they progress through the health care and justice system.

Transitional Housing: This program offers housing, utility, transportation and childcare assistance to women and children that are victims of domestic violence.

Southwest Housing: This program provides housing to meet the low-income housing needs of our community and insure a continued, safe environment for families. Southwest Housing, LLC, give “local preferences” for this housing and may offer housing to applicants who meet the local preference requirements before all other applicants on the list.

Advocacy: Hope’s Door offers advocates for victims of domestic violence. Advocates work with a victim during their transition and after.

Rural Domestic Violence Program: AAFV provides advocates in various agencies throughout Southwestern Idaho. Some of the agencies AAFV has partnered with to place Rural DV Advocates are: Parma Police Department, Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Owyhee County Prosecutor’s office.

Safe and Sober Living: Hope’s Door offers women fleeing domestic violence and dealing with substance abuse issues a safe and sober living environment for them and their children. We also provide case management, treatment referrals, drug testing, and educational classes and groups.

Court Watch and Advocacy: By monitoring court proceedings, from arraignments to sentencing and review hearings, AAFV’s court watch program is able to use feedback and public pressure to encourage fairness, equality and accountability in sentencing of domestic violence and sexual assault cases. Our program’s goal is to see an increase in resolutions where public and victim safety can be ensured, offenders are held accountable to their actions and sentenced appropriately to their crime.
